حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الصَّلَاةِ وَلَا تَصُومُ امْرَأَةٌ وَزَوْجُهَا شَاهِدٌ يَوْمًا غَيْرَ رَمَضَانَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ وَقُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الزِّنَادِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — traced to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Were it not that I fear burdening my community, I would have commanded them to delay the 'Isha prayer and to use the siwak before every prayer. And a woman shall not fast a voluntary day while her husband is present except with his permission.' [This hadith was also read to Sufyan via a second chain: Abu al-Zinad, from Musa ibn Abi 'Uthman, from his father, from Abu Hurayra, from the Prophet ﷺ.]
