Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا تَخَلَّفْتُ عَنْ سَرِيَّةٍ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي مَا أَحْمِلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَلَا يَتَخَلَّفُونَ عَنِّي
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj — traced to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Were it not that I fear burdening my believing community, I would not have stayed behind from any raiding party [sariyya] — for I have nothing to mount them on, nor would they [willingly] stay behind from me.'
