‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قُرِئَ عَلَى ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَجْلَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَجْلَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَا سَالَمْنَاهُنَّ مُنْذُ حَارَبْنَاهُنَّ ‏ ‏يَعْنِي الْحَيَّاتِ ‏

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan [read to him from Ibn 'Ajlan, from Bukayr ibn 'Abdillah, from 'Ajlan] — from the Prophet ﷺ: 'We have never been at peace with them since we declared war on them' — meaning snakes [al-hayyat].
