English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Ibn 'Ajlan, from his father — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Leave me as long as I leave you [without burdening you with commands]. For indeed those before you were destroyed by their excessive questioning and their disagreement with their prophets. Whatever I forbid you, refrain from it; and whatever I command you, do as much of it as you are able.'
