Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ
أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا وَمَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Ibn 'Ajlan, from his father — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Leave me as long as I leave you [without burdening you with commands]. For indeed those before you were destroyed by their excessive questioning and their disagreement with their prophets. Whatever I forbid you, refrain from it; and whatever I command you, do as much of it as you are able.'
