حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَوَكِيعٌ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ مَوْلُودٌ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى هَذِهِ الْمِلَّةِ وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ مَرَّةً عَ
لَى الْمِلَّةِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يُولَدُ مَوْلُودٌ إِلَّا عَلَى هَذِهِ الْمِلَّةِ فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ وَيُنَصِّرَانِهِ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Mu'awiya, Waki', and Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd, from al-A'mash — and Ibn Numayr, from al-A'mash — from Abu Salih — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No child is born except on this milla [natural religion].' Waki' said in one narration: 'on the milla [without specifying "this"].' And it is also narrated via Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Shaqiq, who said: I heard my father — from Abu Hamza, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih — from Abu Hurayra, from the Prophet ﷺ: 'No child is born except on this milla, and his parents make him a Jew or a Christian' — and he mentioned something similar [to the fuller version].
