Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَدْخُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ الْجَنَّةَ بِعَمَلِهِ قَالُوا وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ وَفَضْلٍ وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid [ibn Harun], from Isma'il [ibn Abi Khalid], from Ziyad al-Makhzumi — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'None of you will enter Paradise by his deeds.' They said: 'Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Not even I — unless Allah envelops me in His mercy and grace.' And he placed his hand on his [own] head.
