Hadith #343
Arabic Text
وَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ إِنَّمَا يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي فَصِيَامُهُ لَهُ وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ فَهُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ
English Translation
And [via the same chain]: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah (عز وجل) says: "Every deed of the son of Adam is for him — except fasting, for it is Mine and I give the reward for it. He leaves his food and drink for My sake. His fast is for him, and I give the reward for it. Every good deed [is rewarded] tenfold up to seven hundredfold — except fasting, for it is Mine and I give the reward for it."'
