Hadith #393

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid and Ibn Numayr, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'On the Day of Resurrection, Death will be brought and stood upon the Sirat [bridge]. It will be called out: "O People of Paradise!" They will look out, fearful and anxious lest they be removed' — Yazid said: 'lest they be removed from the place they are in' — 'and it will be asked: "Do you recognise this?" They will say: "Yes, our Lord — this is Death." Then it will be called out: "O People of the Fire!" They will look out, joyful and hopeful of being taken out of the place they are in. It will be asked: "Do you recognise this?" They will say: "Yes — this is Death." Then it [Death] will be commanded and slaughtered upon the Sirat. Then both groups will be told: "Eternity in what you find — no death therein, ever."'
