حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا طِيَرَةَ وَخَيْرُهَا الْفَأْلُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْفَأْلُ قَالَ الْ
كَلِمَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ يَسْمَعُهَا أَحَدُكُمْ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا طِيَرَةَ وَخَيْرُهَا الْفَأْلُ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdillah ibn 'Utba — that Abu Hurayra said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'There is no [ill] omen [la tiyara], and the best of it is al-fa'l [the good omen].' It was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is al-fa'l?' He said: 'The good word that one of you hears.' [Also narrated via 'Affan → 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad → Ma'mar → al-Zuhri → Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman → Abu Hurayra: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no ill omen, and the best of it is al-fa'l' — and he mentioned the like of it.]
