حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَعُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ وَهُمْ رَهْطُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ
اللَّهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ قَالُوا ثُمَّ مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ فِي كُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ أَخْبَرَنِي ثَابِتٌ وَقَتَادَةُ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَذْكُرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri: Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman and 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdillah ibn 'Utba both heard Abu Hurayra say — from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'Shall I not inform you of the best of the houses of the Ansar?' They said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal — and they are the clan of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh.' They said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Then Banu al-Najjar.' Then Banu al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj. Then Banu Sa'ida. 'Then in every house of the Ansar there is good.' [Ma'mar noted: Thabit and Qatada informed him that they heard Anas ibn Malik mention this hadith — except he said: Banu al-Najjar [first], then Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal.]
