English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Bakr → Ibn Jurayj → al-'Ala' ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ya'qub → Abu 'Abdillah Ishaq — that he heard Abu Hurayra say — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The sun neither rises nor sets on a day better than Friday. Every creature is in a state of trepidation on account of Friday — except these two species [al-thaqalayn — jinn and mankind]. At every gate of the mosque's gates there are two angels who write [the names of attendees] first by first: like a man who offered a badana [sacrificial camel]; like a man who offered a cow; like a man who offered a sheep; like a man who offered a bird; like a man who offered an egg. When the imam sits [to begin the sermon], the scrolls are rolled up.'
