حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى ال
لَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ تُسْتَأْمَرُ الثَّيِّبُ وَتُسْتَأْذَنُ الْبِكْرُ قَالُوا وَمَا إِذْنُهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ تَسْكُتُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The previously-married woman [thayyib] is to be consulted [for her explicit consent], and the virgin [bikr] is to be asked permission.' They said: 'And what is her permission, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Her silence [indicates consent].'
