Hadith #105
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ فُقِدَ سِبْطٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَذَكَرَ الْفَأْرَةَ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَرَى أَنَّكَ لَوْ أَدْنَيْتَ مِنْهَا لَبَنَ
الْإِبِلِ لَمْ تَقْرَبْهُ وَإِنْ قَرَّبْتَ إِلَيْهَا لَبَنَ الْغَنَمِ شَرِبَتْهُ فَقَالَ أَكَذَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَفَأَقْرَأُ التَّوْرَاةَ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Samad, from his father, from Ayyub, from Muhammad (ibn Sirin) — who said: "A tribe from Banu Isra'il went missing." He mentioned the mouse and said: "Do you not see that if you bring camel's milk close to it, it will not drink it, but if you bring sheep's milk close to it, it will drink it?" He was asked: "Did you hear that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He said: "Do I read the Torah?"
