حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَى س
َالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَسَبَّحَ لِي فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ إِذْنَ الرَّجُلِ إِذَا كَانَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَنْ يُسَبِّحَ وَإِنَّ إِذْنَ الْمَرْأَةِ أَنْ تُصَفِّقَ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَوْفٌ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Marwan ibn Mu'awiya al-Fazari, from Yazid ibn Kaysan — who sought permission to enter upon Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd while he was praying. Salim said tasbeeh (to signal), and when he finished he said: "A man's way of granting permission while in prayer is to say tasbeeh, and a woman's way is to clap." [Then] Marwan narrated from 'Awf, from al-Hasan, from the Prophet ﷺ the same. And Marwan narrated from 'Awf, from Ibn Sirin, from Abu Hurayra, from the Prophet ﷺ the same.
