Hadith #129

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَد
ٍ عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعٌ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَنْ يَدَعَهُنَّ النَّاسُ التَّعْيِيرُ فِي الْأَحْسَابِ وَالنِّيَاحَةُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ وَالْأَنْوَاءُ وَأَجْرَبَ بَعِيرٌ فَأَجْرَبَ مِائَةً مَنْ أَجْرَبَ الْبَعِيرَ الْأَوَّلَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid, from al-Mas'udi, from 'Alqama ibn Marthad, from Abu al-Rabi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Four things from the pre-Islamic era that people will never abandon: taunting others about their lineage, wailing over the dead, seeking rain by the stars, and (the belief that) 'one mangy camel caused a hundred to become mangy' — who gave mange to the first camel?"
