Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ عِفْرِيتًا مِنْ الْجِنِّ تَفَلَّتَ عَلَيَّ الْبَارِحَةَ لِيَقْطَعَ عَلَيَّ الصَّلَاةَ فَأَمْكَنَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ فَدَعَتُّهُ وَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَر
ْبِطَهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى تُصْبِحُوا فَتَنْظُرُوا إِلَيْهِ كُلُّكُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ قَالَ فَذَكَرْتُ دَعْوَةَ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانَ رَبِّ { هَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي } قَالَ فَرَدَّهُ خَاسِئًا

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ziyad, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Indeed a strong jinn (ifrit) tried to spoil my prayer last night. But Allah enabled me to overpower him, and I wanted to tie him to one of the pillars of the mosque so that you could all see him in the morning. But then I remembered the supplication of my brother Sulayman عليه السلام: My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me, so I let him go humiliated.'
