حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْعَلَاءَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ ال
لَّهِ إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَصِلُهُمْ وَيَقْطَعُونَ وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ وَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتَ كَمَا تَقُولُ فَكَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمْ الْمَلَّ وَلَا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنْ اللَّهِ ظَهِيرٌ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا دُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us who said: I heard al-'Ala ibn Abd al-Rahman narrating from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), that a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives whom I maintain ties with but they sever them, I am good to them but they are bad to me, I am forbearing with them but they are harsh with me.' He said: 'If it is as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and a supporter from Allah will continue to be with you against them as long as you continue doing that.'
