‏ ‏وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَثَلِي كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ اسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّا أَضَاءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهَا جَعَلَ الْفَرَاشُ وَهَذِهِ الدَّوَابُّ الَّتِي يَقَعْنَ فِي النَّارِ يَقَعْنَ فِيهَا وَجَعَلَ يَحْجِزُهُنَّ وَيَغْلِبْنَهُ فَتَتَقَحَّمُ فِيهَا قَالَ فَذَلِكُمْ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ أَنَا آخِذٌ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنْ النَّارِ هَلُمَّ عَنْ النَّارِ هَلُمَّ عَنْ النَّارِ هَلُمَّ فَتَغْلِبُونِي تَقْتَحِمُونَ فِيهَا ‏

English Translation

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'My likeness is like a man who kindled a fire. When it illuminated what was around it, moths and these creatures that fly into fire began falling into it. He was trying to prevent them but they overwhelmed him and kept plunging into it. That is my likeness and yours: I am holding you by your waistbands to keep you from the Fire, but you are plunging into it.'
