English Translation

'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Suhayl ibn Abi Salih informed me. He said: I went out with my father to Sham. The people of Sham would pass by hermits' cells. My father told me: Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah, Blessed and Exalted, says: Whoever shows enmity to a wali (close servant) of Mine, I have declared war upon him. My servant does not draw closer to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him. And My servant continues to draw closer to Me with voluntary acts of worship until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks.'
