Hadith #189
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ عِسْلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ السَّدْلِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Sa'id, meaning Ibn Abi 'Arubah, narrated to us, from 'Isl, from 'Ata', from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Angels come to you in succession by night and by day. They gather at the time of Fajr prayer and at the time of 'Asr prayer. Then those who were with you during the night ascend, and their Lord asks them — though He knows best about them: In what state did you leave My servants? They say: We left them while they were praying, and we came to them while they were praying.'
