حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ أَبِي لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ قَالَ جَاءَ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ إِلَى مُوسَي فَقَالَ أَجِبْ رَبَّكَ فَلَطَمَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام عَيْنَ مَلَكِ الْمَوْتِ فَفَقَأَهَا فَرَجَعَ الْمَلَكُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَقَالَ إِنَّكَ بَعَثْتَنِي إِلَى عَبْدٍ لَكَ لَا يُرِيدُ الْمَوْتَ وَقَدْ فَقَأَ عَيْنِي قَالَ ف
َرَدَّ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ عَيْنَهُ وَقَالَ ارْجِعْ إِلَى عَبْدِي فَقُلْ لَهُ الْحَيَاةَ تُرِيدُ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ تُرِيدُ الْحَيَاةَ فَضَعْ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَتْنِ ثَوْرٍ فَمَا دَارَتْ يَدُكَ مِنْ شَعَرَةٍ فَإِنَّكَ تَعِيشُ لَهَا سَنَةً قَالَ ثُمَّ مَاذَا قَالَ ثُمَّ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ فَالْآنَ يَا رَبِّ مِنْ قَرِيبٍ

English Translation
Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu Yunus narrated to us, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) — my father (the narrator) said: He did not attribute it to the Prophet ﷺ — he said: The Angel of Death came to Musa (عليه السلام) and said: Answer your Lord. Musa struck the eye of the Angel of Death and gouged it out. The angel returned to his Lord and said: You sent me to a servant who does not want to die, and he gouged out my eye. Allah restored his eye and said: Return to My servant and say: If you want life, place your hand on the back of a bull, and for each hair that your hand covers, you will live a year.
