English Translation

Ishaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Dawud ibn Qays narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Horses are of three types: for one man they are a reward, for another they are a shield, and for another they are a burden. As for the one for whom they are a reward: the man who ties them in the cause of Allah and extends their rope in a pasture. As for the one for whom they are a shield: the man who ties them and relies on them for his livelihood. As for the one for whom they are a burden: the man who ties them for show and pride and as enmity against the people of Islam.'
