English Translation
Khalaf narrated to us, he said Ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Indeed, when the servant commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents, withdraws, and seeks forgiveness, his heart is polished. But if he increases [in sin], it increases until it covers his heart. That is the ran (covering) that Allah mentioned: "No! Rather, what they earned has covered their hearts" [83:14].'
