Hadith #42

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْم
َنِ مَوْلَى أُمِّ بُرْثُنٍ حَدَّثَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ الْجُمُعَةَ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَنَا فَاخْتَلَفُوا وَهَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهَا فَالنَّاسُ لَنَا فِيهَا تَبَعٌ فَلِلْيَهُودِ غَدٌ وَلِلنَّصَارَى بَعْدَ غَدٍ

English Translation
Affan narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, that Abd al-Rahman, the freed slave of Umm Burthun, narrated from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever takes an oath and sees that something else is better than it, let him do that which is better and make expiation for his oath.'
