Hadith #527

English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from al-Maqburi — and Hajjaj said: Ibn Abi Dhi'b informed us, Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id narrated to me from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah (عز وجل) loves sneezing and dislikes yawning. So if one of you sneezes and praises Allah, it is a right upon everyone who hears him to say: 'Yarhamuk Allah' (may Allah have mercy on you). But when one of you yawns, let him suppress it as much as he can, and he should not say 'Aah, aah,' for when one of you opens his mouth, Shaytan laughs at him — or from him." Hajjaj said in his narration: "As for yawning, it is only from Shaytan."
