English Translation

Waki' narrated to us from Sufyan, from 'Umarah ibn al-Qa'qa', from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, which charity is best?' He ﷺ said: 'That you give charity while you are miserly — or healthy — hoping to live and fearing poverty. Do not delay until the soul reaches the throat and then say: For so-and-so this much, and for so-and-so that much, when it has already been decided (by inheritance).'
