Hadith #202
Arabic Text
وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ احْتَجَّتْ النَّارُ وَالْجَنَّةُ فَقَالَتْ النَّارُ يَدْخُلُنِي الْجَبَّارُونَ وَالْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ وَقَالَتْ الْجَنَّةُ يَدْخُلُنِي الضُّعَفَاءُ وَالْمَسَاكِينُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِلنَّارِ أَنْتِ عَذَابِي أَنْتَقِمُ بِكِ مِمَّنْ شِئْتُ وَقَالَ لِلْجَنَّةِ أَنْتِ رَحْمَتِي أَرْحَمُ بِكِ مَنْ شِئْتُ
English Translation
With the same chain of narration, he said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Fire and Paradise disputed with one another. The Fire said: 'The tyrants and the arrogant enter me.' Paradise said: 'The weak and the destitute enter me.' Allah (عز وجل) said to the Fire: 'You are My punishment; I take vengeance through you upon whomever I will.' And He said to Paradise: 'You are My mercy; I bestow mercy through you upon whomever I will.'"
