حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ كَانَ لِرَجُلٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقٌّ فَأَغْلَظَ لَهُ فَهَمَّ بِهِ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ الن
َّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِنَّ لِصَاحِبِ الْحَقِّ مَقَالًا وَقَالَ لَهُمْ اشْتَرُوا لَهُ سِنًّا فَأَعْطُوهُ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا لَا نَجِدُ إِلَّا سِنًّا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ سِنِّهِ فَقَالَ اشْتَرُوا لَهُ فَأَعْطُوهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مِنْ خَيْرِكُمْ أَوْ خَيْرُكُمْ أَحْسَنَكُمْ قَضَاءً

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: A man had a right (a debt) owed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he spoke harshly to him. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were about to deal with him, but the Prophet ﷺ said to them: "The creditor has the right to speak." He told them: "Buy him a camel of the same age (as the one owed) and give it to him." They said: "We can only find one better than the age of his camel." He said: "Buy it and give it to him, for the best of you — or among the best of you — is the one who is best in settling debts."
