Hadith #596
Arabic Text
وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَبْدِي عِنْدَ ظَنِّهِ بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا دَعَانِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَإٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَإٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَأَطْيَبَ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً

English Translation
And with the same chain of narration, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: Allah (عز وجل) said: 'My servant is as he thinks of Me, and I am with him when he calls upon Me. If he remembers Me within himself, I remember him within Myself. If he remembers Me in an assembly, I remember him in an assembly better than them. If he draws near to Me by a handspan, I draw near to him by an arm's length. If he draws near to Me by an arm's length, I draw near to him by a fathom. If he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.'
