حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ رَجُل

ٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَرِيمُ الْبِئْرِ أَرْبَعُونَ ذِرَاعًا مِنْ حَوَالَيْهَا كُلُّهَا لِأَعْطَانِ الْإِبِلِ وَالْغَنَمِ وَابْنُ السَّبِيلِ أَوَّلُ شَارِبٍ وَلَا يُمْنَعُ فَضْلُ مَاءٍ لِيُمْنَعَ بِهِ الْكَلَأُ

English Translation

Hushaym narrated to us, 'Awf informed us, from a man who narrated to him, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The protected area around a well is forty cubits from all sides, for watering livestock and animals.'
