Hadith #19

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَرْيَتِهِ يَزُورُ أَخًا لَهُ فِي قَرْيَةٍ أُخْرَى فَأَرْصَدَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَلَكًا فَجَلَسَ عَلَى طَرِيقِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَيْن
َ تُرِيدُ قَالَ أُرِيدُ أَخًا لِي أَزُورُهُ فِي اللَّهِ فِي هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ قَالَ لَهُ هَلْ لَهُ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تَرُبُّهَا قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُهُ فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ فَإِنِّي رَسُولُ رَبِّكَ إِلَيْكَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَحَبَّكَ بِمَا أَحْبَبْتَهُ فِيهِ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Hammad, from Thabit, from Abu Rafi', from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'A man went out from his village to visit a brother of his in another village. Allah stationed an angel on his path. When he came to him, the angel said: Where are you headed? He said: I am going to visit a brother of mine in this village. He said: Do you have any favor upon him that you wish to cultivate? He said: No, except that I love him for the sake of Allah (عز وجل). He said: I am a messenger of Allah to you, [informing you] that Allah loves you as you have loved him for His sake.'
