English Translation
Yazid and Abu Abd al-Rahman narrated to us—Yazid said: al-Mas'udi informed us—from Muhammad, the freed slave of the family of Talhah, from Isa ibn Talhah, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'No charity is more rewarding than one given when you are in good health, fearing poverty and hoping for wealth. Do not delay it until the soul reaches the throat, and then you say: This is for so-and-so and this is for so-and-so, when it has already become theirs.'
