حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أ

َبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ الْعُقُوبَةِ مَا طَمِعَ بِالْجَنَّةِ أَحَدٌ وَلَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْكَافِرُ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ الرَّحْمَةِ مَا قَنَطَ مِنْ الْجَنَّةِ أَحَدٌ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ فَوَضَعَ وَاحِدَةً بَيْنَ خَلْقِهِ يَتَرَاحَمُونَ بِهَا وَعِنْدَ اللَّهِ تِسْعَةٌ وَتِسْعُونَ رَحْمَةً

English Translation

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, from al-'Ala', from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'If the believer knew what punishment is with Allah, no one would hope for His Paradise. And if the disbeliever knew what mercy is with Allah, no one would despair of His Paradise.'
