حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْحَارِثِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْ
رَةَ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ أَنْتَ الَّذِي تَنْهَى النَّاسَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ هَا وَرَبِّ هَذِهِ الْكَعْبَةِ هَا وَرَبِّ هَذِهِ الْكَعْبَةِ ثَلَاثًا لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يَصُومُ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَحْدَهُ إِلَّا فِي أَيَّامٍ مَعَهُ

English Translation
Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) narrated: A man said to him: 'Are you the one who forbids people from fasting on Fridays?' He said: 'No, by the Lord of this House. But I forbid singling it out for fasting. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Do not single out Friday night for prayer among the nights, and do not single out Friday for fasting among the days, unless it coincides with a fast that one of you regularly observes.'
