English Translation

He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i recited to 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik — and Ishaq narrated to us, Malik informed us — from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Fire complained to its Lord and said: O Lord, some parts of me are consuming other parts. So He permitted it two breaths: one breath in the winter and one breath in the summer. As for the breath in the summer, it is the most intense heat you experience, and as for the breath in the winter, it is the most intense cold you experience.'
