English Translation

Isma'il narrated to us, from al-Jurayri, from Khalid ibn Ghallaq al-'Ayshi, who said: I was staying with Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه). A son of mine died, and I grieved over him. I said: 'Did you hear anything from your beloved friend that you can console us with?' He said: 'Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The young children are the little ones of Paradise (da'amis al-Jannah). One of them will meet his father — or his parent — and take hold of his garment, just as I take hold of the hem of your garment, and will not let go until Allah admits him and his father into Paradise.'
