English Translation

Ishaq narrated to us, Malik narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah al-Ansari, from his father, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), that a man said: O Messenger of Allah, I have sheep; should I graze them in that well (on the outskirts of Madinah)? He said: 'When the evening comes, gather your sheep. Slaughter one of them. Apply its blood to its stable.' — meaning that he should be steadfast and remain with the Muslims.
