English Translation

Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent 'Abdullah ibn Hudhafah to lead a military expedition. He became angry with his companions and said: 'Didn't the Prophet ﷺ command you to obey me?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then gather firewood.' When they gathered it, he said: 'Light a fire.' When it was lit, he said: 'Enter it.' They refused. He said: 'Do not enter it, for I was only joking.' They mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'If they had entered it, they would never have come out. Obedience is only in what is good.'
