English Translation
He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i read to 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik — and my father said: Abu Salamah, meaning al-Khuza'i, narrated to us, Malik informed us — from Safwan ibn Sulaym, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, there is no man who kills a sparrow or anything larger without its right, except that Allah (عز وجل) will question him about it on the Day of Resurrection.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is its right?' He said: 'That he slaughters it and eats it, and does not cut off its head and throw it away.'
