حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْجُلُوسَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ وَرُبَّمَا
قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ عَلَى الصُّعُدَاتِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَا بُدَّ لَنَا مِنْ مَجَالِسِنَا قَالَ فَأَدُّوا حَقَّهَا قَالُوا وَمَا حَقُّهَا قَالَ رُدُّوا السَّلَامَ وَغُضُّوا الْبَصَرَ وَأَرْشِدُوا السَّائِلَ وَأْمُرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَانْهَوْا عَنْ الْمُنْكَرِ

English Translation
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from a man, from Abu Sa'id (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Beware of sitting in the pathways.' They said: 'We have no alternative; they are where we converse.' He said: 'If you must, then give the pathway its right: lowering the gaze, removing harmful things, returning the greeting of salam, and commanding good and forbidding evil.'
