English Translation

He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i read to 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik — my father said: and Ishaq narrated to us, Malik informed us — from Rabi'ah ibn Abi 'Abd al-Rahman, from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban, from Ibn Muhayriz, that he entered the masjid and saw Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه). He sat with him and asked him about 'azl [coitus interruptus]. Abu Sa'id said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Banu al-Mustaliq. We captured some prisoners from the Arabs and desired the women, as celibacy was difficult for us. We wanted to practice 'azl, so we asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it. He said: 'There is no harm in your not doing it, for there is no soul destined to exist until the Day of Resurrection except that it will come into being.'
