حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ أَوْ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْب
َةُ وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَيَكُونُ أُمَرَاءُ يَغْشَاهُمْ غَوَاشٍ أَوْ حَوَاشٍ مِنْ النَّاسِ يَظْلِمُونَ وَيَكْذِبُونَ فَمَنْ أَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ وَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَا أَنَا مِنْهُ وَمَنْ لَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَهُوَ مِنِّي

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Qatadah narrating from Sulayman — or Abu Sulayman — and Hajjaj said: Shu'bah narrated to me, and he said: a man from Quraysh — from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "You will surely follow the ways of those before you, handspan by handspan and cubit by cubit, until if one of them entered the hole of a lizard, you would enter it too." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, the Jews and Christians?" He said: "Who else?"
