English Translation
Bahz narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us — and Hajjaj said: Shu'bah narrated to me — Qatadah informed us, from Abdullah ibn Abi 'Utbah — Hajjaj said: Ibn 'Utbah, the freed slave of Anas ibn Malik — who said: I heard Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out on the day of Fitr and al-Adha to the prayer place. He would begin with the prayer, then he would stand facing the people while they were seated in their rows. He would admonish them, advise them, and give them commands. If he wanted to dispatch an expedition, he would do so, or if he had something to command, he would command it. Then he would leave.
