English Translation

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Sa'id al-Jurayri informed us, from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) who said: We were performing Hajj and we stopped in the shade of a tree. Ibn Sa'id [i.e., Ibn Sayyad] came and put down his belongings by us. I said to my companions: "Let us leave this person, for he is evil." When we had left, we came to a place. Abu Sa'id said: "Do you not see what the people say about him? I know about him what no other person knows. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ask him: 'What do you see?' He said: 'I see a throne upon water.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You see the throne of Iblis upon the sea.' He said: 'What else do you see?' He said: 'I see truthful people and liars — or liars and one truthful.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'He has been confused; leave him.'"
