حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ لَمَّا دَخَلَ النَّبِيّ

English Translation

Hushaym narrated to us, Humayd informed us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: When the Prophet ﷺ married Zaynab bint Jahsh, he held a wedding feast. He fed us bread and meat. Then the people lingered and did not leave. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would get up and leave, hoping they would get up. Some would get up and some would remain. Then he returned, and they were still sitting. Then they got up and left, and I informed the Prophet ﷺ that they had left. He came in, and it was regarding this that the verse of hijab was revealed.
