حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ أَغْفَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِغْفَاءَةً فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مُتَبَسِّمًا إِمَّا قَالَ لَهُمْ وَإِمَّا قَالُوا لَهُ لِمَ ضَحِكْتَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيَّ آنِفًا سُورَةٌ فَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ ال
ْكَوْثَرَ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا الْكَوْثَرُ قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ هُوَ نَهْرٌ أَعْطَانِيهِ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ عَلَيْهِ خَيْرٌ كَثِيرٌ يَرِدُ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ آنِيَتُهُ عَدَدُ الْكَوَاكِبِ يُخْتَلَجُ الْعَبْدُ مِنْهُمْ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي فَيُقَالُ لِي إِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-Mukhtar ibn Fulful, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) saying: the Prophet ﷺ dozed briefly, then raised his head smiling. Either they said to him, or he said: "Just now a surah was revealed to me." Then he recited: "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar. So pray to your Lord and sacrifice. Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off." Then he said: "Do you know what al-Kawthar is?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "It is a river that my Lord (عز وجل) promised me. Upon it is great goodness. It is a pool to which my ummah will come on the Day of Resurrection. Its vessels are as numerous as the stars. A servant from among them will be pulled away, and I will say: 'O Lord, he is from my ummah.' He will say: 'You do not know what he innovated after you.'"
