English Translation
Ibn Abi 'Adi narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marched to Badr, he went out and consulted the people. Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) gave his opinion, then Umar (رضي الله عنه) gave his opinion. Then al-Miqdad (رضي الله عنه) stood and said: "O Messenger of Allah, proceed where Allah has directed you, and we are with you. By Allah, we will not say to you as the Children of Israel said to Musa: 'Go, you and your Lord, and fight; we are sitting here.' Rather, go, you and your Lord, and fight; we are fighting with you." It was as if the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was pleased but still wanted to hear from the Ansar. Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah (رضي الله عنه) said: "It is as if you mean us, O Messenger of Allah. Proceed, for we are with you."
