حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ وَيَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَقَامَ كُلُّ قَرِيبِ الدَّارِ مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ وَبَقِيَ مَنْ كَانَ أَهْلُهُ نَائِيَ الدَّارِ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى ال
لَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِخْضَبٍ مِنْ حِجَارَةٍ فَصَغُرَ أَنْ يَبْسُطَ أَكُفَّهُ فِيهِ قَالَ فَضَمَّ أَصَابِعَهُ قَالَ فَتَوَضَّأَ بَقِيَّتُهُمْ قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ وَسُئِلَ أَنَسٌ كَمْ كَانُوا قَالَ ثَمَانِينَ أَوْ زِيَادَةً

English Translation
Ibn Abi 'Adiyy narrated from Humayd, and Yazid informed us from Humayd — the meaning being the same — from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: The call for prayer was made, and those whose homes were near the mosque stood up to pray, while those whose homes were far away remained. A stone vessel was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ containing water that was not enough for him to spread his hand in. He placed his fingers in the vessel, and I looked at the water gushing from between his fingers. Anas said: I estimated that those who performed ablution from it were between seventy and eighty men.
