حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ سَأَلَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ امْرَأَةٍ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى ال
رَّجُلُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ رَأَتْ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُنَّ فَأَنْزَلَتْ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ أَوَ يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ غَلِيظٌ أَبْيَضُ وَمَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ أَصْفَرُ رَقِيقٌ فَأَيُّهُمَا سَبَقَ أَوْ عَلَا أَشْبَهَهُ الْوَلَدُ

English Translation
Yazid informed us from Sa'id — and Ibn Ja'far said: Sa'id narrated to us, the meaning being the same — from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) that Umm Sulaym asked the Prophet ﷺ about a woman who sees in her sleep what a man sees. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If a woman sees that, she must take a bath (ghusl).' Umm Sulaym said — or another of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Does that happen?' He said: 'Yes, from where does the child's resemblance come? The man's water is thick and white, and the woman's water is thin and yellow. Whichever of them prevails or precedes, the resemblance follows it.'
