English Translation
Yazid informed us from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Abu al-Tayyah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: The site of the Prophet ﷺ's ﷺ mosque belonged to Banu al-Najjar, and it contained palm trees and graves of the polytheists. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Name your price for it.' They said: 'We seek no price for it except from Allah.' He ordered that the palm trees be cut down, the graves dug up, and the ground leveled. They placed the palm trunks toward the qiblah. The two side walls were made of stone. They would chant rajaz poetry while carrying the stones. the Prophet ﷺ was with them, saying: 'O Allah, there is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirah.'
